Commander’s log – Day 94 of the mission.

There are no major problems to report. We received slight damage to the ships outer hull as we passed through a cloud of space dust. No repairs were necessary.

As for the crew, they are holding up well despite the long duration of the flight and our close confinement together in this small craft. There has been some friction between specialists Macbain and da Silva which led to a loud argument between the two yesterday. However, after some counseling from the doctor, their usually friendly relationship has resumed.

Earlier today, at 15:30 ship time we carried out our first major ship maneuver in nearly 3 months. We used the thrusters to turn the ship so the main engines are now facing Mars. We will use these to brake the ship over the next ten days and slow down enough to be caught by Mars gravity and enter safe orbit. It was an inspiring moment for us all as we can now see Mars on the main view screen. It is a beautiful sight.

All systems are working perfectly and the science experiments being carried out by specialist Sato and Doctor Khadra are progressing well.
