Here we have a man with a heavy weight on his mind. Kenjiro Sato, when last we saw him was retreating fast from the heavy blows and mocking scorn of a little old lady with a heavy handbag. Since then, his day hasn’t improved at all.

On discovering he was missing his wallet, a large amount of money, credit cards and so on, he’d gone immediately to the police, where he’d received the blunt news that a month’s salary was likely gone for good – pickpockets not generally being considered model citizens.

So he trudged wearily to work, wondering how he was going to hide his tragic loss from his wife.

He was approaching his office in this dark frame of mind when he decided to drop by his favorite art gallery and give his shattered nervous system a few minutes break. So, art being a comfort to the soul he walked through the door and was soon browsing the pictures on display, slowly relaxing but pondering that it would be some time before he’d be able to buy any new paintings.

After a while of this, his nerves calmed by the quiet atmosphere, he was about to leave when glancing out of the window his heart leapt in shock. There, passing by outside was the old battleaxe who’d attacked him with the handbag. Wondering what the hell she was doing here, he dodged behind a display and stood - heart beating wildly – praying she wouldn’t come in. After a while, it became obvious she’d passed by and furtively he slipped out the door and hurried to his office.

Ten minutes later Kenjiro emerged from an elevator reflecting on his lucky escape. Sadly, this sense of relief was not to last as striding into his office the first thing he saw was the old woman staring at one of his prints.

For a second he was frozen in mute terror, but before the woman could turn around, he silently legged it for the elevator - where he bumped into his secretary. She just had time to blurt out something about the police and his wallet before he was in the elevator and gone.

The old woman, who had watched this exchange take place, smiled. It wasn’t a pretty smile and it was fortunate that Kenjiro wasn’t there to see it.

She called the secretary over. She had a request to make. Then still smiling the awful smile she left the building.

Sometime later, shaken and quite badly stirred , Kenjiro walked into the elevator and enquired about his missing wallet. He was informed that an Inspector Kato of the Railway Police wanted to talk to him and would be returning to the station shortly. Would he care to wait?

Kenjiro decide the hard chairs of the police station were more inviting than what was waiting for him back in his office. He’d just picked up a magazine when to his complete horror he saw his old nemesis walk in and head straight to the day officer. Was she stalking him!? He didn’t have time to reflect on this as at the sight of the policeman raising his hand to point him out he leaped for the exit.

The old woman turned slowly and watched as Kenjiro made his dash for freedom. For a while, she paused in thought. Then the same awful smile as before creased her face.

Yes, I’ll have him this time, she thought. And she was almost certainly right as this was the famous Inspector Katsumi Kato of the railway police who always, always got her man.
